About AK47

Description:

The original AK was also known as the AK-47. It was a gas-operated, selective-fire weapon. Like all 7.62-mm Kalashnikov assault rifles, it fired the Soviet 7.62 x 39-mm M1943 round and used a standard 30-round curved box magazine. The AK came in two versions: one with a fixed wooden stock, and another, the AKS, with a folding metal stock issued primarily to parachutist and armor troops. Except for the differences in the stock and the lack of a tool kit with the AKS, the two version were identical. The early AKs had no bayonet, but the version with the fixed wooden stock later mounted a detachable knife bayonet.
The improved model, known as the AKM, is easier to produce and operate. It weighs about one kilogram less than the AK. The reduced weight results from using thinner, stamped sheetmetal parts rather than machined, forged steel; laminated wood rather than solid wood in the handguard, forearm, pistol grip, and buttstock; and new lightweight aluminium and plastic magazines. Other improvements include a straighter stock for better control; an improved gas cylinder; a rate-of-fire control alongside the trigger; a rear sight graduated to 1,000 meters rather than 800 meters; and a greatly improved, detachable bayonet.
The AKM also has a folding-stock version, designated AKMS, intended for use by riflemen in armored infantry combat vechicles such as the BMP. Except for its T-shaped, stamped-metal, folding buttstock, the AKMS is identical to the AKM. The folding-stock model can reduce its length from 868 to 699 millimeters.

Capabilities:

All 7.62-mm Kalashnikov assault rifles fire in either semiautomatic or automatic mode and have an effective range of about 300 meters. At full cyclic rate, they can fire about 600 rounds per minute (upto 640 rounds per minute for the AKM), with a practical rate of about 100 rounds per minute fully automatic or 40 rounds per minute semiautomatic. Both the AK and AKM can mount a grenade launcher. Both can have passive image intensifier night sights. Both can function normally after total immersion in mud and water. The fully chromed barrel ensures effective operation even at very low temperatures. The muzzle of either weapon fits into the swiveling firing points of the BMP. Thus, the infantryman can fire the weapon while the vechicle is moving.

Limitations:

The most serious drawback to the AK and AKM is the low muzzle velocity (710 meters per second) of the relatively heavy 7.62-mm round. This results in a looping trajectory that requires a clumsy adjustment for accuracy at ranges beyond 300 meters. The barrel overheats quickly when the weapon fires for extended periods, making the weapon hard to handle and occasionally causing a round to explode prematurely in the chamber. The exposed gas cylinder is easily dented, sometimes causing the weapon to malfunction.

Remarks:

Although they designed it in 1947 and thus referred to it as the AK-47, the Soviets actually adopted the AK in 1949. The AK entered service in 1951. It was the basic individual infantry weapon of the Soviet Army until the introduction of the AKM. The Soviets developed the AKM in 1959. It entered service in 1961. All 7.62-mm Kalashnikov assualt rifles are very dependable weapons. They produce a high volume of fire and are simple to maintain. However, the new 5.45-mm assault rife AK-74 is replacing the 7.62-mm weapons.

Be proud to be an Indian

Year : 2020

Place : Two Americans at IBM, USA

Currency Conversion Rate : INR 1 Rs = USD $ 100

Alex: Hi John, you didn't come yesterday to office?

John: Yeah, I was in Indian Embassy for stamping.

Alex: Oh really, what happened, I heard that nowadays it has become very strict.

John: Yeah, but I managed to get it.

Alex: How long it took to get it stamped?

John: Oh, it was nasty man, long queue. Bill Gates was standing  in front of me and they played with him like anything. That's why it  got delayed. I went there at 2 am itself and waited and returned by 4pm.

Alex: Really? In India, it is a matter of an hour to get stamped for USA

John: Yeah, but that is because who in India will be interested in coming to USA man, their economy has been booming.

Alex: So, when are you leaving?

John: Anytime, after receiving my tickets from the client in India and you know, I will be getting a chance to fly Air-India. Sort of dream come true.

Alex: How long are you going to stay in India.

John: What do you mean by how long? I will be settled in India, my company has promised me that they will process my Hara Patta ..(green card)

Alex: Really, lucky person man, it is very difficult to get a Hara Patta in India.

John: Yeah, that's why, I am planning to marry an Indian girl there.

Alex: But you can find lots of US girls in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai.

John: But, I prefer Indian girls because they are beautiful and cultured.

Alex: Where did you get the offer, Bangalore?

John: Yeah, salary is good there, but cost of living is quite high, it is Rs. 1000/- for a single room accommodation.

Alex: I see, that's too much for US people, Rs.1/- =$100/-. Oh God! what about in Hyderabad, Mumbai?

John: No idea, but it is less than what we have in Bangalore. It is like the world headquarters of software

Alex: I heard, almost all the Indians are having one personal Robot for help.

John: You can get a BMW car for Rs. 5000/-, and a personal Robot for less than Rs.7500/-. But my dream is to purchase Ambassador, which costs Rs.2,00,000/ - but has got a lovely design.

Alex: By the way, who is your client?

John: Subbanna and Appanna Associates, a pure Indian company, specialising in Embedded Software.

Alex: Oh, really, lucky to work in a pure Indian company. They are really intelligent and unlike American Bodyshoppers who have opened  their Fly-by-night outfits in India. Indian companies pay you in full even when you are on bench. My friend Paul Allen, it seems, used his bench time to visit Bihar, the most liveable place in India, probably world. There you have full freedom and no restrictions. You can do whatever you want! I wonder how that state has perfected that system.

John: Yeah man!, you are right. I hope our America also follows their footsteps.

Alex: How are you going to cope with their language?

John: Why not? From my school days I have been learning Hindi as my first language here at New York. At the Consulate they tested my proficiency in Hindi and were quite impressed by my cent per cent score in TOHIL i.e. Test of Hindi as International Language.

Alex: So, you are going to have fun there.

John: Yeah, I will be travelling in the world's fastest train, world's largest theme park, and the famous Bollywood where you can see actors like, Hrithik, Shah Rukh Khan and all. Esselworld is also near Bollywood.

Alex: You know, the PM is scheduled to visit US next year, he may then relax the number of visas.

John: That's true. Last month, Narayana Murthy visited White House and donated Rs. 2000/- for infrastructure development at Silicon Valley and has promised more if we follow the model of Electronic City in Bangalore. Bill Gates also got a chance of meeting him. Very lucky person.

Alex: But, Indian government is planning to split Narayanamurthy' s Infosys.

John: He is a hard worker man, he can build any number of Infosys like this. Every minute he is getting Rs. 1000/-. It seems, if you  keep all his money converted as Rs. 100/- notes you can reach Pluto.

Alex: OK, Good Luck John.

John: Same to you Alex. And don't go to Consulate in a "Kurta Pyjama" because they will think you are too Indianised and may doubt you will never come back and hence your Non-Immigrant Visa may get rejected. But don't forget to say " Namaste, aap kaise hai " to the Visa officer at Window 5. It seems he likes that and will not give you a   visa if you don't greet
him that way.

Let's hope for this day to come........ ...  Cheers !!!!!!!

Superman and Batman to team up in new movie

In 2015, Superman and Batman will appear together for the very first time on the big screen, it has been announced.

The two superheroes are to appear in the same film for the very first time, according to Zack Snyder, who directed the most recent Superman film, Man of Steel.
Snyder made the revelation at San Diego's annual comic convention,Comic-Con, stating that production is expected to begin next year, with the film scheduled for release in the summer of 2015.
It will be a sequel to Man of Steel, with Snyder once again directing and British actor Henry Cavill once again playing the part of Superman. There has no been word, however, as to who will play Batman – Christian Bale, the star of the 'Dark Knight' trilogy, having vowed never portray the caped crusader again.
Christopher Nolan, director of the Batman trilogy, will serve as as executive producer on the new film.

Apple launch a cheaper iPhone?

More and more sources are claiming that the rumoured cheap iPhone may indeed exist. They say that the scaled down model will have a colourful and plastic exterior, lower resolution camera, scaled down version of iOS 7 and so on.

While the premium model will carry on from where iPhone 5 has left off, this cheap model will be slotted a little behind it. For example the premium model may have a 12 MP camera, the rumoured cheap iPhone will come fitted with a 5MP or 8MP camera. It may not even have Retina display--the screen Apple introduced with iPhone 4. It will sell for a reduced price of over Rs 20,000 ($330-$400) as opposed to Rs 45,000 for the top model.

Those who say that the phone may not exist believe that there is no reason for Apple to launch a trimmed down version. By launching a cheaper model Apple will be bringing down its profit. Volume of sales doesn't really matter if there is no great margin for the company. We know Nokia will confirm that!

They point out that the recently leaked images, which are, supposedly, of the outer shell of the rumoured device, lack physical control buttons or even slots. That is not in tune with the iPhone or iPad hardware we are familiar with until now. Unless Apple is going to introduce a totally new way of communicating with the hardware, those pictures may not be genuine.

But those who say that such a device exists argue that Apple has sensed the premium smartphone market has become saturated and that the high end users are not all that enthusiastic in upgrading their devices each year. They also say that the company has realised that the future may be in developing countries like India. So Apple will bring out a compromised solution like this.

Yes, Apple needs cheaper devices if it wants better penetration in price sensitive markets like India.

47 killed, 300 injured in 6.6-magnitude quake in China

Beijing: (Monday, July 22, 2013)

A 6.6-magnitude strong earthquake on Monday ripped through China's northwestern Gansu Province, killing at least 47 people and injuring nearly 300 others, local authorities said.

The quake shook the area at 7:45 a.m. (local time) at the junction of the Minxian County and Zhangxian County, the Gansu Provincial Seismological Bureau said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 20 km, was 170 km away from the provincial capital Lanzhou, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted officials as saying.

A 5.6-magnitude quake jolted the same area later at 9:12 am, the agency said.

"The death toll from the deadly quake has risen to 47, with 296 injured," Xinhua quoted Gansu Earthquake Networks Center as saying.

Some 21,000 rooms from 5,600 houses have been damaged, while 1,203 rooms collapsed in Zhangxian county. Cables were damaged, cutting telecommunications in Minxian county.

Communication was cut off in 13 towns of Zhangxian County. Officials of with the Minxian County government said most of the townships in the county have been affected by the quake. The townships of Meichuan and Puma were seriously hit.

Many homes in the quake-hit region collapsed, according to the civil affairs bureau of the Dingxi City.

The locals in Minxian County said strong tremor was felt in the area and they saw trees and homes were shaking. They also said that the quake lasted for about one minute.

Soldiers, police and more than 300 local militiamen have been dispatched to the quake-hit region to help with rescue efforts. The provincial civil affairs department has sent 500 tents and 2,000 quilts to the quake-hit region.

The Red Cross Society of China has also dispatched a team of disaster relief workers, with 200 tents, 1,000 family emergency kits and 2,000 cotton-padded jackets.

Lanzhou Railway Bureau has started the emergency response to guarantee the safety of railway bridges and communication equipment in the province.
Light to moderate rain and partly heavy rain were forecast in Dingxi city, according to the provincial meteorological station, which would affect the rescue efforts.

Meanwhile, the earthquake was also felt in Tianshui city and the provincial capital city of Lanzhou besides in the cities of Xi'an, Baoji and Xianyang in neighbouring Shaanxi Province.
